FUN
Map making is a passion that extends beyond work hours! Here’s a few of my ‘for the fun of it’ maps.
MEMORY LANE
I was inspired to create these maps after watching John Nelson’s plan oblique tutorial video. I chose areas of Turkey that I had visited and loved. In the first map, I highlighted the sights that made the Mount Nemrut area so memorable. In the second, I was inspired to create a map that reflected the colors of the landscape around İshak Paşa Sarayı. I created the maps in ArcGIS Pro.
FOR THE LOVE OF WATER
One of the few things I (might) love more than maps is water.
My Dad and I worked on this project together. This is my favorite section of the Santa Fe River in High Springs, FL including some of my favorite springs. I prepped a Lidar layer in ArcGIS Pro, projected it onto the wood, and traced it in pencil as a guide for carving.
I made this felt-ish map of Waccassa Bay, FL in ArcGIS Pro using John Nelson's felt style.
My Dad and I made this carving of Dominica for a good friend who had lived on the island for many years. I prepped a basic map in ArcGIS Pro, printed it, and used tracing paper as a guide for carving.
GUERILLA CARTOGRAPHY
I made this map as part of the Guerrilla Cartography 2020 Atlas in a Day project. Participating cartographers are given a theme and then have 24 hours to make a map. The theme of the 2020 Atlas was Community. I created this map in ArcGIS Pro and finalized it in Adobe Illustrator.
